What is a CT Scan?
A CT scan, or CAT scan, is an x-ray test used to analyze the inside of a section of your body without ever having to go directly inside. The CT scan produces a cross-sectional image of the area scanned so that doctors may analyze your physical state and make an accurate diagnosis. CT scans are also known as computerized tomography.
Why You May Need a CT Scan
Dr. Paine may recommend a CT scan in order to make an accurate diagnosis before beginning a specific ear, nose or throat procedure. This will prevent any unnecessary procedural steps and will help give Dr. Paine a better understanding of your condition.
CT scans will provide Dr. Paine with images that show far more detail than traditional x-rays. He can use them to see what is causing problems within your ear, nose, or throat and then make a proper diagnosis to develop the best treatment plan for you.
When you have your CT Scan with Dr. Paine, adults will experience only 1/10 of the radiation output compared to hospitals (children just 1/20 of the radiation output). You can also expect to pay up to 50 percent less than you would in a hospital setting. Dr. Paine uses the MiniCAT™ CT system for incredibly quick results and maximum comfort for you. Scans take just 40 seconds and can produce your results immediately, so you spend less time waiting and find a solution to your problem much faster.
